Arriving by boat to a place with no roads, where the villages were abandoned decades ago and nature still makes its own rules. No huts, no comforts: our packs, our tents, and everything we need to move self-sufficiently. We walk on a glacier, raft a glacial river and head out to see whales. At the end of August darkness returns to Iceland, and with it the first northern lights. We go looking for them from the interior: volcanoes, rhyolite mountains in impossible colours, lava deserts and glacial rivers.A finales de agosto vuelve la oscuridad a Islandia, y con ella las primeras auroras. Three to four days of trekking and camping, adjusted on the ground to the weather and logistics. Then the reward: a day on the glacier, a slower day with hot springs and spa, and the drive back towards Keflavík with stops wherever they're worth it.Tres o cuatro días de trekking y acampada, que ajusto sobre el terreno según el tiempo y la logística. I've spent years guiding between Iceland and Finnish Lapland, sharing the Arctic with thousands of people. Nobody controls the weather. If the sea or the mountain makes us change plans, we change them. Dates and routes are indicative until we close them together.Nadie controla el tiempo.
